Holiday weekend Midtown. Busy? Oh yeah. Let me tell you about it.
We had company in town for the last few days. Saturday morning we decided to take a ride along the Greenline to Shelby Farms.
We started out at 10:00 a.m. and made our way along the Greenline. This was the first ride for my friend along the trail. He really enjoyed the ride out east. On our way back we decided to stop in at Central BBQ on Summer (we can’t get into the one on Central!).
Oh yeah, wings and beer. My friend thought the pulled pork sandwich was the BEST bbq sandwich he has ever eaten IN HIS LIFE. My beer and wings didn’t taste to bad either 😉
Later that evening we headed over to Young Avenue Deli for some drinks and a few games of pool. Good times had by all of us. The Yazoo Hefe was very good. I had a couple of these.
Sunday we took the girls over to Central BBQ for lunch (yes again). Again I went with the wings, while others tried the bbq nachos (which were great).
Next stop? La Michoacana for some ice cream. The Key Lime Pie is EXCELLENT. I also picked up a melon pop with chamoy covering the melon.
Love it.
Then it was time to head to Tunica for some gambling. Me? I lost a little money. Our friend won $800. “You’re buying dinner right?”
Which brings us to Local on the Square.
After our ride home, we decided to stop in for some dinner. I had a burger
and then we ordered dessert.
“Warm Bacon Blondie”. The dessert was amazing. GET THIS! Yes, that is two strips of bacon under a “blondie” (think of a brown sugar brownie, without the chocolate), under ice cream, with maple syrup and whipped cream. The bacon tasted perfect with the other items. Good choice.
We all loved the dessert. As you can see from the empty plate:
The dessert was demolished in a matter of minutes.
I also tried out the “Pumpkick” Spiced Seasonal Ale. Very good stuff. I liked the beer so much I ordered a second one. Delicious. (I wanted a High Cotton beer, but it was sold out!)
Lastly we stopped by Kroger at Highland / Poplar for groceries. Hmmm… how about a six-pack sampler?
The Magic Hat Seasonal Seance should be interesting and I know the Pumpkick is great. Cheers to me.
Alright, that was one excellent and tiring weekend. See YOU back here for more beers, bikes and bacon. Cheers.
