Last day of 2012. Here’s to ya Midtown.
And now for even more New Orleans lovin’. Our second full day in New Orleans featured a trip down Magazine St. to Uptown. We were smart and caught the bus at Canal and Magazine St. In minutes we were at the 4600 block of Magazine St. Our stop? La Boulangerie; a french pastry shop.
And the place was mobbed. I guess “this is the place” to buy a slice of heaven in New Orleans. I ordered a raspberry and custard tart and the apple danish.
I love the food! After eating, we walked down the street, checking out the very cool neighborhood. I have to say that Magazine is much like Cooper Young, except many more miles are involved in New Orleans. Here are a few of the sights along Magazine St.
There is a “stop work order” near the bottom right of the photo. I’m not sure where this house is going. And those wooden pallets holding the house up didn’t look very secure. Many people walking by stopped to look at this very old house.
I thought this bench was colorful.
This is the fountain in the “beer garden” of the Bulldog 3236 Magazine Street. The place had not opened for the day yet, so we couldn’t stop by for a drink.
Taking a tip from our waitress Krystal at Juan’s Flying Burrito, we stopped in at the Grand Isle (575 Convention Center Boulevard, behind the casino).
The gumbo was mine, and my wife had the shrimp.
Just down the street from Grand Isle is Gordon Biersch Brewery and Restaurant. GO HERE! Since I couldn’t figure out which beer to drink, I decided to get the beer sampler.
I was in beer heaven. This beer is very good. I could sit here all day and drink beer. So which beer did I decide to order?
The wheat beer is out of this world.
I love you wheat beer.
Sadly, we had to leave the bar and head back to the hotel. I WILL BE BACK! Another fantastic day in the Big Easy.
Time to wrap up 2012. I picked up some special beer this evening for the end of the year. Hello Circus Boy.
Regrets from 2012? Not many. Resolutions for 2013? Not many either. I’m loving the bike rides to work, the neighborhood that I live in, the great food I eat, and the shows I see. I am very lucky and am blessed for all that I have. I wish you the very best and a happy new year Midtown. Cheers!
